In some cases you can get help with WP Cerber Security in no time
What’s wrong? Please click the most appropriate section below.
- Some of the security features do not work as described
- I get the 404 error page instead of the login page
- I forgot my Custom login URL (I get 404 error instead)
- I can’t log in / I’m locked out of my site
- WP Cerber doesn’t work as intended
Some of the security features do not work as described
When you test WP Cerber’s security features, you have to test them either from a different computer or in an incognito window in your browser. Also, you have to ensure that the IP address (or subnet) of the computer you’re using for tests is not in the White IP Access List. Check this on the Access Lists admin page.
Note: When you activate the plugin, it adds your IP address to the White IP Access List.
I get the 404 error page instead of the login page
If you are used to using wp-admin page to log into your website and now you get the “404 Page not found” error, try to use the default WordPress login page which is wp-login.php. For instance, for wpcerber.com the default login page is: https://wpcerber.com/wp-login.php
If you set up your Custom login URL and after a while forgot it, first of all, check the website admin email box for a notification email. In that email, you can find your Custom login URL. If you are unable to find that email, you need to reinstall the plugin manually following the steps below.
- Delete the plugin folder wp-cerber manually by using FTP or any file manager (in your hosting control panel) that is provided by your hosting provider.
- Log into your WordPress dashboard as usual by using the default /wp-login.php URL or another way that you are used to using.
- Install and activate the WP Cerber plugin again.
- Go to the plugin Main Settings page.
- Check the Custom login URL setting field. It displays your Custom login URL that you have to use.
I forgot my Custom login URL
If you set up your Custom login URL and after a while forgot it, first of all, check the website admin email box for a notification email. In that email, you can find your Custom login URL.
Alternatively, try to use the default WordPress login page which is wp-login.php. For instance, for wpcerber.com the default login page is: https://wpcerber.com/wp-login.php
If the steps above do not help, you need to reinstall the plugin manually following the steps below.
- Delete the plugin folder /wp-cerber/ manually by using FTP or any File Manager (in your hosting control panel) that is provided by your hosting provider.
- Log into your WordPress dashboard as usual by using the default /wp-login.php URL or another way that you are used to using.
- Install and activate the WP Cerber plugin again.
- Go to the plugin Main Settings page.
- Check the Custom login URL field. It displays your Custom login URL that you have to use.
I can’t log in / I’m locked out of my site
If you have set up your Custom login URL and after a while forgot it, first of all, check the site admin email box for a notification email. In that email, you can find your Custom login URL. Alternatively, try to use the default WordPress login page which is wp-login.php. For instance, for wpcerber.com the default login page is: https://wpcerber.com/wp-login.php
How to log into the WordPress dashboard if nothing helps
There is a special version of the plugin called WP Cerber Reset. This version performs just one task. It resets all WP Cerber Security plugin settings to their initial values (excluding Access Lists) and then deactivates itself (and WP Cerber Security respectively).
So to get access to the dashboard you need to copy the WP Cerber Reset folder to the plugins folder of your website. Follow the steps below.
- Download the wp-cerber-reset.zip archive to your computer using this link: https://wpcerber.com/downloads/wp-cerber-reset.zip
- Unpack the wp-cerber folder from the archive.
- Upload the unpacked wp-cerber folder to the plugins folder of your WordPress by using FTP (or any File Manager in your hosting control panel). If you see a question about overwriting files or a folder, click Yes.
- Log into your website as usual by using the default /wp-login.php WordPress login page. Now WP Cerber is completely disabled.
- Install the WP Cerber plugin again. You have to do that because WP Cerber Reset cannot work as a normal plugin.
WP Cerber doesn’t work as intended
Before you send any request to the support, please do the following:
- Load the default WP Cerber settings on the Manage Settings page which is under the Tools admin menu. These settings are safe by design.
- Recheck the functionality of the plugin again.
- If the plugin doesn’t work as intended, check your other security plugins and server settings (e.g. firewall or extra PHP modules). Apparently, WP Cerber Security doesn’t work as intended due to an incompatibility issue.
- If the plugin works fine, apply your own desirable settings. One setting at a time.
- Check the functionality of the plugin again.
- If something goes wrong, please, try to find out what else on your website or server can lead to the incompatibility issue that is related to your changes in the default plugin settings. See step 3.
- If you think, that nothing else can be recognized as the cause of that weird behavior, follow instructions on this page.
